Directions Directions for making the scarf in TWO sizes - chunky and worsted:
1. QUICK AND CHUNKY SIMPLE CABLE
Materials: 140 200 yds of super chunky yarn (such as Rowan Big Wool Fusion) or a combination of yarns which will knit to gauge. Cable hook. Size 17 needles, or size needed to obtain the gauge.
Gauge: 8 sts = 4 in garter stitch.
NOTE: CB8 = Slip next 4 sts onto cable hook and hold in BACK. Work next 4 sts (K 1, P 1, K 1, P 1), then work the 4 sts from the cable hook (K 1, P 1, K 1, P 1).
Instructions: Cast on 16 sts. Row 1: K 4, (K 1, P 1) 4 times, K 4. You may want to place markers on the needle after the first 4 sts and before the last 4. Row 2: K 4, CB8, K 4. Rows 3 11, same as row 1. Repeat rows 2 11 for pattern (that is, cabling every 10th row). You may want to use a safety pin or lock ring marker on the right side of your fabric to help you count rows. Work to desired length, ending with a cable row. Bind off in pattern.
2. ARAN WEIGHT BRAIDED CABLE
Materials: 300 400 yds of worsted weight yarn (such as Silkroad Aran) which will knit to gauge. Cable hook. Size 9 needles, or size needed to obtain the gauge.
