Directions MATERIALS - DOUBLE STRAND of worsted weight yarn (like Encore) and size 10 needles
Cast on 64 stitches. KNIT for 10 rows. Put a marker in the center (after stitch 32).
Continue in stockinette: on the knit rows, knit to 3 stitches before the marker, K2tog through the back loops, purl one, move marker, purl one, K2tog, knit to end. On the purl rows, purl to 3 stitches before marker, P2tog, K1, move marker, K1, P2tog, purl to end. Continue with this pattern of decreasing EACH ROW until there are 15 stitches on either side of the marker.
Knit 7 rows without decreasing. Bind off. You can use different colors held together for a tweedy look, or change colors after the knit bottom to get different effects.
You can vary the size by using 60 stitches instead of 64 and working until there are 13 stitches instead of 15 at the top.
