Directions This blanket will take about 1000 yards of your blender yarn and various other solid color yarns. The blender will be used throughout, the solid colors can vary as you wish. You can pick brights, primaries, pastels, or pick one color theme (autumn, baby boy, etc) and work with those.
Suggestions for blender - Maxime print, Koigu, TyDy Sock or any other thin variegated (usually machine washable)yarn.
For solids - Comfort, Encore or other worsted weight solids.
Pick colors that match (usually you pick your solids first and then find variegateds that work with it). Needle size will depend on the yarns you use. For Encore or Comfort with a sock weight yarn, a size 9 or 10 works well. For DK weight solids, go down to a 7 or 8; for chunky weight, go up to a 10.5 or 11.
Plan how your colors will go - either light to dark, or same tone hues repeated. This is YOUR blanket, so it will be YOUR design.
Cast on 100 - 120 stitches using your first solid with the blender. Work in seed stitch for 6 rows. Then work in stockinette, keeping 5 stitches on each side in seed (you can also use garter stitch instead of seed, if that is easier for you.)
If you want to do a pickup up side border instead of seed or garter, just work the blanket in stockinette throughout (other than the beginning and ending 6 rows).
Change main color every 20 rows (30 rows if doing DK weight).
End blanket with 6 rows seed or garter.
If you are using your stash yarns, plus blender, just play!!!
We have many kits made up to do this blanket - so call our Elegant Stitches store (305) 232-4005 and ask us what colorways we have in stock. You will want to make more than one!!
